Aviation Ministry increases cap on domestic flights from 70% to 80% of pre-COVID levels from today

New Delhi: The Aviation Ministry on Thursday elevated the cap on home flights from 70 p.c to 80 p.c of the pre-COVID ranges from at present. In its order, the Ministry stated that the cap on the variety of home flights that Indian airways are permitted to function has been elevated from 70 per cent to 80 per cent of their pre-COVID ranges on Thursday.”

Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had stated on November 11 that the Indian airways can function as much as 70 per cent of their pre-COVID home passenger flights as a result of prevailing demand amid the coronavirus scenario.

On Thursday, Puri tweeted, “Domestic operations recommenced with 30K passengers on 25 May & have now touched a high of 2.52 lakhs on 30 Nov 2020.” “Ministry of Civil Aviation is now allowing domestic carriers to increase their operations from existing 70% to 80% of pre-COVID approved capacity,” he acknowledged.

 The ministry had resumed scheduled home passenger companies from May 25, after a spot of two months as a result of coronavirus lockdown.

However, the airways had been allowed to function no more than 33 per cent of their pre-COVID home flights.

On June 26, this was elevated to 45 per cent and on September 2, it was additional elevated to 60 per cent. On November 11, it was elevated to 70 per cent.
