Sanjay Manjrekar to return to TV commentary during India’s tour of Australia
Sanjay Manjrekar, one of many few commentators who name a spade a spade, will return to the TV commentary field for India’s tour of Australia beginning this month, the previous India batsman confirmed on Saturday.
Manjrekar, 55, instructed IANS that he had been included within the TV commentary panel for India’s Test, ODI,and T20 collection, to be performed between November 27 and January 19. Sony Pictures Network will broadcast the matches in India.
The Indian cricket board had dropped Manjrekar from the commentary panel for the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL). The transfer was seen as a response to the commentator calling Ravindra Jadeja a “bits-and-pieces player” throughout the 2019 World Cup, which drew a pointy backlash from the Indian all-rounder on Twitter.
“In the case of ‘bits and pieces’, people thought it was the degradation of a player. So, if I would have said ‘non-specialist’, then I don’t think there would have had been a furore,” mentioned Manjrekar in an interview with MoneyControl after he was excluded from the IPL panel.
India’s tour of Australia will begin with a three-match ODI collection from November 27 to December 2, adopted by a T20I collection of as many matches from December four to eight.
A four-match Test collection will comply with with the primary match scheduled to be performed from December 17 to 21 in Adelaide. The second Test shall be performed on the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30 adopted by the third Test from January 7 to 11, 2021 on the Sydney Cricket Ground.
