Railway jobs: Over 1 lakh notified vacancies for level-1 recruitment; check details

The Indian Railways has reserved 20 per cent vacancies (i.e. 20,734 vacancies) for apprentices in 1,03,769 notified vacancies for level-1 recruitment at the moment below course of, as per Apprentice Act in 2016.

The Ministry of Railways has made applicable preparations for the graceful conduct of  Computer Based Test (CBT) which is scheduled from December 15, 2020, onwards as notified earlier. The particulars of the schedule of the CBTs will probably be uploaded on web sites of RRBs in the end individually for these employment notifications.

Reportedly, the skilled apprentices at railway institutions are demanding common appointments. Apprentices are demanding this by asking for the restoration of the sooner powers given to GMs which was discontinued in March 2017.

Regular appointments with none open competitors, as being demanded by some, will probably be in opposition to the constitutional provisions and GOI guidelines about common recruitment. All eligible residents of the nation are entitled to compete and apply for normal jobs. 

Further, as per the modification made within the Apprentice Act in 2016, each employer has to make a coverage of appointment of apprentices skilled of their institution. Keeping this in view, Railways has stored 20% vacancies in Level 1 recruitment for such apprentices and provides a good alternative to all.

As per extant rule, Railways engages apprentices for offering coaching of their institutions. As per Section 22 (i) of Act Apprentices Act, 1961 amended on Decemebr 22, 2014 gives that, “Every employer shall formulate its own policy for recruiting any apprentice who has completed the period of apprenticeship training in his establishment. In compliance with the above, instructions have been issued vide Railway Board’s letter No.E(NG)II/2016/RR-1/8 dated 21.06.2016, providing that 20% of the vacancies in case of direct recruitment to posts/categories in Level-1 shall be filled by giving preference to Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) trained in Railway establishments.”  

It could also be famous that RRBs has issued three centralized employment notifications (CEN) . CEN 01/2019 (NTPC classes), CEN 03/2019 (Isolated and ministerial classes) and RRC-01/2019 (Level-1 classes) for a complete of about 1.four lakh vacancies for varied classes of employees by Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). Against these employment notifications, greater than 2.40 crore candidates have utilized.
