‘Mumbai film industry kills people, makes them drug addicts’: Roopa Ganguly

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Member of Parliament Roopa Ganguly on Monday alleged that the Mumbai movie trade “kills people” and makes them “drug addict”. “Mumbai film industry kills people, makes them drug addict, and keep insulting a woman, but nobody is doing anything. Mumbai Police remains silent. It does not take action,” Ganguly has stated.

“Why is the Bollywood silent over the sexual harassment charges levelled by Payal Ghosh against Anurag Kashyap? Why Mumbai Police is not taking any action against Anurag Kashyap?” she requested.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s lawyer on Monday rejected “the false allegations of sexual misconduct” levelled in opposition to his shopper, terming it “completely false, malicious and dishonest”.

Actor Payal Ghosh had accused the Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment. The filmmaker has denied the allegations and stated he intends to pursue “remedies in law” to the “fullest extent”.

Issuing an announcement via his lawyer, Kashyap additionally stated it was unhappy {that a} motion as essential because the #MeToo one had been co-opted by vested pursuits and decreased to a “mere tool for character assassination”.

On Monday, the 48-year-old director spoke via his lawyer Priyanka Khimani, “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest…”               

Calling Ghosh’s allegations fictitious, Khimani added that they significantly undermine the #MeToo motion and search to unconscionably commerce upon the ache and trauma of precise victims of sexual harassment and abuse. “My client has been fully advised of his rights and remedies in law and intends to pursue them to the fullest extent,” the assertion added.
