Kashmir woman provides sanitary kits in ladies washrooms in Srinagar amid coronavirus

A Kashmiri lady, Irfana Zargar, is inserting sanitary kits in public washrooms of Srinagar as a part of a menstrual hygiene marketing campaign to offer napkins freed from price to native ladies. Irfana put in a home-made Eva Safety Door sanitary serviette equipment for ladies and younger ladies within the public washrooms which lack such amenities for the women.

The sanitary equipment consists of sanitisers, child diapers and moist tissues together with the sanitary pads.

“At first, I started this initiative in my society and placed sanitary kits in 15 washrooms. My aim was to make Kashmiri women feel secure and confident whenever they travel outside and never feel helpless,” Irfana advised ANI.

Irfana Zargar is a working worker and manages the expense of the sanitary kits from her personal pocket to assist others who could also be disadvantaged of those amenities. She began this initiative earlier than the COVID-19 pandemic and continued her efforts even in the course of the lockdown.

“During the lockdown, I started ‘door-to-door’ delivery of these sanitary kits to provide a hygienic menstrual experience to all the women in the valley,” she stated.

“I salute Irfana Ji for this endeavour. It’s a very empowering step for the women across Srinagar,” Meraj-u-din Ahmad, a Srinagar Municipal Corporation worker, stated.
