Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia sign deal to ‘end conflict’ in Nagorno-Karabakh region
YEREVAN/BAKU: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia stated they’ve signed a deal to finish the army battle over the Nagorno-Karabakh area after greater than a month of bloodshed.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan first introduced the signing on social media within the early hours of Tuesday and the Kremlin and Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev later confirmed the information.
“The signed trilateral statement will become a (crucial) point in the settlement of the conflict,” Aliyev stated in a televised on-line assembly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin stated Russian peacekeepers could be deployed alongside the frontline in Nagorno-Karabakh and the hall between the area and Armenia.
Arayik Harutyunyan, the chief of the Nagorno-Karabakh area, stated on Facebook that he gave settlement “to end the war as soon as possible”.
The declaration has adopted six weeks of heavy preventing and development by the Azerbaijan`s forces. Baku stated on Monday it had seized dozens extra settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, a day after proclaiming victory within the battle for the enclave`s strategically positioned second-largest metropolis.
“The decision is made basing on the deep analyses of the combat situation and in discussion with best experts of the field,” Prime Minister Pashinyan stated.
“This is not a victory but there is not defeat until you consider yourself defeated. We will never consider ourselves defeated and this shall become a new start of an era of our national unity and rebirth.”
Armenian protesters marched to the prime minister’s official residence in Yerevan, Government House No. 1, after the ceasefire was introduced, stated native information outlet Norlur.am.
Videos seen on social media confirmed crowds contained in the constructing, however the prime minister’s location was unclear.
The Nagorno-Karabakh preventing has raised fears of a wider regional warfare, with Turkey supporting its ally Azerbaijan, whereas Russia has a defence pact with Armenia and a army base there.
