UP ashram owner drugged children with ‘COVID-19 medicine’, sexually harassed them
Muzaffarnagar: Children at an ashram in Shukratal in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar stated that after their day’s work, the ashram proprietor, generally known as ‘Maharaj’, would drive them to drink alcohol calling it ‘coronavirus drugs’.
The kids claimed that the self-styled Godman would then drive them to observe grownup movies and do ‘dangerous issues’ to them.
Ten younger boys, who have been allegedly sexually harassed, thrashed and compelled to work as labourers, have been rescued from the ashram lately. An FIR was lodged in opposition to the ashram proprietor beneath IPC part 377 (unnatural offences) and beneath numerous sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The proprietor of Godiya Math Ashram, Swami Bhakti Bhushan, was arrested after a grievance was filed by a toddler helpline in opposition to him.
The kids rescued from the ashram have been aged between 7 and 16 and hail from the northeastern states. The kids have been rescued by a workforce of state youngster care helpline and police after they obtained a tip-off about their exploitation by the ashram proprietor and his associates.
The kids had been despatched to the ashram by trusting dad and mom with restricted means, within the hope of giving them a very good training.
A medical examination confirmed 4 of them have been sexually assaulted.
Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Yadav stated informed IANS, “The ‘Maharaj’ is a resident of Sisauli village. He set up the ashram 12 years ago. He has no prior record. Locals said he had amassed donations in his previous stint as a godman in Chandigarh, where he used to set up his ashram. The children had been engaged in the construction of the grand two-storeyed ashram building.”
“We have CCTV cameras on the premises that can be scanned. The children had been living here for a long time but now locals have told them to say all this as some people are creating trouble after the ashram was donated a piece of land,” he informed reviews, whereas dismissing the allegations.
