UK PM wants to reduce reliance on China for infrastructure to zero by 2023: Report

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is planning to cut back Chinese telecoms tools maker Huawei Technologies Co Ltd’s involvement in Britain’s 5G community within the wake of the coronavirus disaster, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported https://bit.ly/2zmI2DE.

Johnson has requested officers to make plans to cut back China’s involvement in British infrastructure to zero by 2023, the newspaper reported late on Friday.

Johnson is predicted to make use of much less reliance on China as a method to spice up commerce talks with US President Donald Trump within the aftermath of Britain’s departure from the European Union, in response to the newspaper.

Downing Street declined to remark. Huawei didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

Earlier on Friday, The Times reported that Johnson has instructed civil servants to make plans to finish Britain’s reliance on China for important medical provides and different strategic imports.

The United States has raised safety considerations about Huawei tools, and warned that allies that use it of their networks risked being reduce off from priceless intelligence sharing feeds.
