Odisha renames village as ‘Rangabati’ Bilung in Sambalpur district
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha authorities has renamed Bilung village in Sambalpur district as ‘Rangabati Bilung’, because the lyricist of the vastly fashionable ‘Rangabati’ tune, Mitrabhanu Gauntia was born within the village, a senior official stated on Wednesday.
The state’s Revenue and Disaster Management division has renamed Bilung village in Sambalpur district as ‘Rangabati Bilung’ after getting “no objection” certificates from the Central authorities, the official stated.
Earlier, the Sambalpur District Collector, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Board of Revenue and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had additionally advisable renaming Bilung village as ‘Rangabati Bilung’ income village.
“This is a rare moment in the history of art of culture of the state,” Revenue and Disaster Management secretary B P Sethi advised PTI, including that the federal government declared the village after the son (Gauntia) retaining in view its reputation amongst all sections of individuals of the state.
The Rangabati tune was first recorded in All India Radio (AIR), Sambalpur in 1975-76. Keeping its broad reputation in view, the Indian Record Manufacturing Company Ltd (INRECO) additionally recorded this tune in disc format in 1976, the disc was launched in 1978-79.
Gauntia, the lyricist of Rangabati tune was born in Bilung village in 1942 and has composed about 1,000 Sambalpuri songs.
He obtained Padma Sri Award in 2020 along with Odisha State Sangeet Natak Academy Award and Akashvani National Award for music.
Rangabatis male singer Jitendra Haripal obtained the Padma Shri award for the tune in 2017. The music composer for this quantity is Late Prabhudatta Pradhan. Rangabati has the distinctive distinction of being re- created in lots of different regional languages of India and the tune could be very fashionable in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar in addition to Chhattisgarh.
